Highlights and Recap from AWS re:Invent 2023

Keren Shmuely

Marketing Director, Intel Granulate

Yet again, Intel Granulate attended AWS re:Invent this year in Las Vegas, this time located in the Intel booth in a high traffic location. We were thrilled to see many friends, existing partners and customers, as well as meet new innovators in the field of cloud computing. If you weren’t able to make it this year, then take a look at these highlights from the biggest industry event of the year.

Hot Topics Were GenAI and Cost Optimization

In the ever-evolving world of technology, certain themes continually emerge as pivotal drivers of innovation and progress. At AWS re:Invent 2023, these themes were more pronounced than ever, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) taking center stage, a clear testament to its growing influence across various sectors. At the Intel booth, we were happy to contribute to this GenAI conversation, along with our fellow Intel Software solutions; OneAPI, CNVRG and Intel Developer Cloud.

Another trend that is continuing to grow in importance and popularity is cost optimization. As many industries are still recovering from the economic downturn of the past few years, cutting cloud costs continues to be a priority. Intel Granulate representatives were happy to offer solutions for those DevOps, FinOps and other IT managers with cloud budgets on their minds that dropped by our booth.

Highlights and Recap from AWS re:Invent 2023

These topics strongly correlated with the results of a survey that we conducted in the days leading up to and during the event. This report consisted of insights provided by hundreds of DevOps professionals and IT management decision makers from a diverse range of businesses that depend on cloud-based applications.

We asked what the most exciting trend for cloud optimization for 2024 will be, and AI-driven cloud optimization was the most popular answer (35.6%) and when asked what cloud optimization means to our respondents’ organization, the top answer was Cloud cost reduction (74.5%)

Take a sneak peek at the survey, full of useful insights into the trends that are driving cloud optimization going into 2024.

“Intel Granulate is proud to be a pioneer in the field of cost and performance optimization, a field where the industry has recently shown maturity. Since the cost optimization market is quite crowded, customers who are looking for these solutions should focus on ones that look at SLOs (Service Level Objectives) as their North Star with a granular understanding of performance to avoid reducing costs at the expense of customer service.”

Intel Granulate’s Partnerships and Announcements

Databricks Strategic Collaboration

On the first day of the event, we at Intel Granulate proudly announced our new collaboration with Databricks, an industry leader in data management operations. Our suite of autonomous, continuous optimization solutions is now operational on Databricks’ robust Data Intelligence Platform under the Databricks Partner Program. Designed to help customers derive greater scalability, this collaboration intends to enhance performance, reduce costs and increase efficiency across data management operations.

“It was very timely that our announcement on the official partnership with Databricks landed on the first day of AWS re:Invent. It led to some very productive conversations with customers and attendees. As the adoption of Databricks widely spreads across the ecosystem, we look forward to leveraging the partnership with Intel Granulate in 2024 to improve the performance and reduce infrastructure costs for Databricks customers”

AWS Advertising and Marketing Technology Competency

We announced on the third day of AWS re:Invent that Intel Granulate was one of the few companies selected to be in the inaugural class for this esteemed, new competency. Achieving the AWS Advertising and Marketing Technology Competency is a recognition that Intel Granulates provides a holistic suite of software solutions that empowers advertisers and marketers with real-time, continuous application-level performance optimization and capacity management ideal for RTB, ad intelligence and other adtech applications.

Deloitte Expands Strategic Alliance With Intel Software Portfolio

At the conference, we were able to strengthen our relationship with Deloitte, a leading global provider of enterprise IT consulting, specializing in digital transformation, technology strategy, and systems integration. We built on the momentum of the recent news of our strategic alliance with Deloitte, which allows them to leverage Intel Granulate to better optimize costs for joint enterprise clients.

Additionally, Keegan Sheedy, Director Solutions Engineering & Technical Sales, presented on stage how our suite of optimization solutions seamlessly integrate into Deloitte’s CloudBilling 360™ platform, a Deloitte-built solution that enables enterprises to visualize, optimize and control their cloud spend at scale with minimal effort.

Face to Face With Our Valued Customers

The event was not just about announcements and presentations; it was also a platform for meaningful customer engagement. Intel Granulate hosted VIP meals and strategic planning sessions, fostering deeper connections with our clients. These interactions signify the importance of personal connections in fostering business relationships.

“re:Invent was a big success for us here at Intel Granulate. Stepping off the Zoom screen and meeting our prospects, customers, and partners in person helped us to connect with them on a deeper level around their challenges and opportunities with cost optimization.

Our team had the opportunity to host VIP meals with our biggest customers and prospects, conduct strategic planning sessions with our partners, and align leadership teams with the strategic initiatives we’re helping to accomplish. We’re looking forward to the wins and growth that come from our time in Las Vegas.”

Sharing Snap’s Kubernetes Optimization Success

Keegan Sheedy also participated in an on-stage session with Tom Brown, Senior Software Engineer at Snap Inc. They discussed Snap’s optimization journey and its evolution from manual tuning and configurations to autonomous solutions like Intel Granulate.

“These techniques are effective, but are hard to scale with a microservice architecture. We’re going with Intel Granulate, not because other techniques don’t work, but because it can automate those techniques at scale.”

Tom Brown, Senior Software Engineer at Snap Inc
